Many of the CEOs I work with say, “Marketing should be easy. But it’s not.”
There are a few obvious--and possibly painful--reasons marketing can be so painful. It’s a cost center--with no guarantee.
You may not get what you pay for, and too often you have to answer to your CFO about why marketing is eating up the budget when it doesn’t work.
There is some good news. Yes, marketing isn’t easy--but it doesn’t have to be so hard, either.
How to Reduce the Stress of Marketing Decision-Making
In this week’s marketing strategy training video (Oh yeah--we have a YouTube channel!), I provide some tips on how to reduce the stress of marketing decision-making.
In the video, I cover the foundational elements that are going to help you make the right marketing decisions for your business. I delve into the questions you need to ask yourself to really understand the best direction for not only your marketing strategy, but also your overall business strategy.
I also discuss why it’s important to resist the temptation to give in to the hearsay in the marketplace-- which can be very influential on how to spend your (precious) marketing dollars. And, a quick note on the competition (and why it can be damaging to get too wrapped up in what they’re doing).
When You Have a Roadmap, You Avoid the Random
Committing to a living, breathing strategy gives you a roadmap you can use to guide your team--so that your vision for your company has a roadmap that can actually be implemented... not just in product and services and sales, but in your marketing as well. When you have a roadmap, you can be more patient, less impulsive, and rely less on instinct. You avoid those “random acts of marketing” that rarely pay off.
“Marketing isn’t easy. But it doesn’t have to be so hard, either.”
Most importantly, you gain the confidence, the knowledge, and the right team in place to move forward.
If you'd like more context on how to build a blueprint for your business--a marketing blueprint that will help guide you and your team and make sure your vision is realized in the marketing that gets out there in the marketplace--please give the video a watch. It’s a quick view, but packed full of information.
And, if you’d like to get a bit more in-depth, you can also watch my longer training video on marketing strategy and what we do in the Strategy Lab.
P.S. Don’t forget to subscribe to the YouTube channel, so you’ll get first access to more videos in the future.
